‘SUMMER FOREST’ is another in a recent series of abstract felt paintings that concentrates on the ever shifting light in a small wooded area near where I live. Wet felted pieces have been cut into strips and laid into the background with yarns, nepps and reworked strips of felt, then the whole composition re-felted, free motion stitched to create a slight 3D effect. You will notice I have stitched into the negative spaces allowing the textures of the felted tree trunks to sit in the foreground.
