UPDATE 11.06.2020 BOTH SOLD (AS A DIPTYCH)
Kaleidoscope 1 & 2
These 2 felt paintings are an abstract of the land and seascapes on the Mull of Galloway. Leaning more towards playing with colour and textures in an abstract way, I still nod to the realism of the lay of the land introducing more vibrant hand dyed fibres and aimed to play the colours both in harmony with each other and to contrast each other in a way that light can really astonish the eye with the sunlight.
Using hand dyed merino fibres and mulbery silks, I wanted to capture the richness of the land, the potential of the range of teal greens and blues in the sea and land beyond and then delight the eye with a rich purple/blue/violet abstraction of the magnificent rolling hills. In the foreground, I have mixed in hand dyed locks for texture of the shrubs and undergrowth, a multitude of greens/lichen through the land. I have free stitched the final detail on which captures layers, but have left areas untouched by stitch revealing the softness of the fused together fibres reflecting the softness of the land.
Whilst not a true diptych (i.e. not hinged together!) they are exactly match on the horizon and are a continual piece that I’ve framed in two separate frames. It took some time to construct these and free stitch carefully so that they match but can also be sold separatley.
The felt paintings are each 12.5 x 12.5 inches and are £115 each or £210 for the two
